Lewis sure Roeder is the right man as the on-loan keeper recovers from horror injury

October 31st, 2007 by Latest News | Comments Off

City keeper Joe Lewis today welcomed the appointment of new Canary boss Glenn Roeder as the 51-year-old former Newcastle chief got his feet under the table at Colney, drawing up his battle plan for Sunday's big East Anglian derby.

Lewis – currently on loan at Morecambe – suffered a horrific shoulder and head injury in a collision with Shrimps' defender Chris O'Grady nearly two weeks ago at Rotherham, but the 20-year-old is now on the way to making a full recovery and …

East Anglia's football landscape is all change; Town unveil mystery white knight

October 31st, 2007 by Latest News | Comments Off

Ipswich Town's precarious finances took on a whole new look this morning as – subject to due diligence being completed – reclusive multi-millionaire Marcus Evans took control of the Suffolk club.

And as Sunday's derby showdown fast loomed, so the Canaries will head into battle with a new manager; Town – potentially – with a new owner, albeit one the shareholders will still need to approve of at an annual general meeting. He comes, however, with the board's full …

And the fun continues… now it's time to spot 'Team Glenn'. Is it Lee? Paul? Kevin?

October 31st, 2007 by Latest News | Comments Off

Speculation was today mounting that new City chief Glenn Roeder could snatch the services of the much-admired, young Newcastle United coach Lee Clark as all eyes now turned on who would be part of 'Team Glenn'.

Clark, of course, was not the only name to do the rounds. At West Ham United, he worked closely with ex-Town coach Paul Goddard who is still believed to live in the Essex area; while ex-Canary Kevin Bond – the man Roeder originally recruited as his No2 at Newcastle – …

For my money, the Canaries have probably got the right man for the job. Eventually.

October 31st, 2007 by Charlie Wyett | Comments Off

The board of Norwich City certainly took their time. Far too long, in fact.

But in terms of finding a man who can get the team out of the terrible position they find themselves in, Roeder is a good choice.

When things start hotting up down at the bottom come March and April, I genuinely believe Norwich will not be among those clubs staring League One down the barrel.

It's pretty obvious there were not too many options in terms of bringing a new man in.<br …

Four reasons to think: 'Mmm…'; four more reasons to think: 'Well, OK…'

October 30th, 2007 by Stanley | Comments Off

Stanley would be lying if he was to say that he was 'over the moon' at the news of Glenn Roeder's appointment as the new City manager.

Frankly, Stanley can't, at the moment, escape a deep sense of foreboding at the news that Roeder is the man in whose hands the immediate, and quite probably long-term future of the club, lie.

However whether Stanley, you or any of the other 23,000 City faithful who will turn up this Sunday, like it or not we all need Roeder …

Judge this man by the company he keeps and the players he brings in…

October 30th, 2007 by Rick Waghorn | Comments Off

For anyone seeking a reference point re Glenn Roeder, you could do a lot worse than think a younger Bruce Rioch.

Two people drew that comparison this morning – both of whom knew the ex-Canary boss inside out.

And now having met him for the first time at Carrow Road this morning, you can see the similarities.

Upright, decent, solid individuals, Roeder and Rioch are probably exactly the kind of steady hands at the tiller that the Canaries need right now.

Roeder's task is very simple – to make it simple enough for us all to understand…

October 30th, 2007 by theexpert | Comments Off

Not for one minute do I think that any of us will underestimate the magnitude of the announcement of Glenn Roeder as the new Norwich manager at around half-past nine this morning.

Because as we all know only too well, he has arguably the biggest task ever handed to a Canaries boss in recent history – and that is to prevent Norwich City Football Club from sinking into the third tier of English football.

Performances so far this season have been absolutely dire – there's …

A year on and Munby hopes the lessons of the past will secure a far firmer future

October 30th, 2007 by Latest News | Comments Off

As the dust started to settle on this morning's appointment of new City boss Glenn Roeder, so club chairman Roger Munby revealed just what difference a year had made.

This time last year and a nine-strong interview panel had handed Peter Grant the task of lifting the Canaries out of the Championship and on into the promised land of the Premiership.

Some 12 months on and a slimmed down selection committee – acting on the strength of two, full interviews – handed …
