So that's all folks. Done and dusted for another… week. That's when it all starts again.

January 31st, 2008 by Rick Waghorn | Comments Off

OK, so there's a couple of minutes to go. Something might still happen before the window slams shut for another, er… week.

At which point, the Canaries can dive straight back into the 'emergency loan' market again and scour the Premiership again for further fresh blood; players that have finally got the point that the gaffer's not going to give them another game this season – not after they signed Johnny X half an hour before the window shut.

So, …

Sven lets Evans stay on in Norfolk after his own deadline day fun and games

January 31st, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

On a manic day of transfer activity at Carrow Road, the Canaries confirmed tonight that Manchester City have agreed to extend Ched Evans' loan spell until the end of the season.

In other transfer news, young forward Ryan Jarvis has left the club for his fourth loan spell, this time joining League Two outfit Notts County until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has already spent the first half of the season in the SPL after five months at Kilmarnock yielded just …

Come in No4…. Arsenal starlet Gibbs joins City as Lappin heads home

January 31st, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

As expected, Arsenal Academy prospect Kieran Gibbs has become City's fourth loan signing of the past 24 hours, putting pen to paper on a deal with the Canaries until the end of the April.

And as the transfer merry-go-round goes into overdrive, City forgotten man Simon Lappin has returned to his homeland to join Mark McGhee's Motherwell on loan for the rest of the season.

More on Lappin later but closer to home, the names of Gibbs and fellow …

Bertrand all too aware of Henry's capabilities as City's latest wing-wizard signs on

January 31st, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

Having lined-up alongside each other at England youth level and gone head-to-head in League One, City loan star Ryan Bertrand and new arrival James Henry should know each other pretty well by now.

And encouragingly for Canary fans, Bertrand is convinced his new Colney pal has a big future in the game.

The pair have been involved in the England Under-19 setup and Reading starlet Henry gave the Chelsea youngster a torrid time when the Cherries faced Bertrand's Oldham …

Royals starlets arrive in Norfolk as the incoming door starts to swing into action

January 31st, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

City boss Glenn Roeder this morning bolted on two more young, Premier League prospects as Reading duo Alex Pearce and James Henry joined Middlesbrough starlet Matthew Bates in Norfolk.

Roeder made it three loan signings in less than 24 hours by securing the services of the teenage stars from the Madejski stadium and they look set to go straight into the squad to face Preston at the weekend.

Pearce, a centre-half, and winger Henry arrive on the back of the Boro …

Take my eye off the ball for a moment, turn my back for one second…

January 30th, 2008 by Stanley | Comments Off

This is a dangerous time of the year in Stanley's opinion, potentially a very dangerous time. The problem is it's all so easy to take your eye off the metaphorical ball and do a Titus Bramble.

Take old Stan for example. Tuesday night wasn't simply Southampton away, it was Stanley's Cricket Club's first indoor nets of the year and Stanley attended.

Now attending nets instead of spending too much money and too much time on the round trip to …

It only makes you wonder where we'd be had Glenn been there from the off…

January 30th, 2008 by theexpert | Comments Off

The Canaries went into the game with Southampton at St. Mary's last night unbeaten in nine league games.

And of those nine matches, I don't think it would be unfair to suggest that only in three of them had Norwich disappointed with the manner of their performance.

Aside from the clashes with Colchester, Charlton and Wolves, City had delivered a notable array of qualities to their game, ranging from a defensive resoluteness not witnessed on too many occasions in …

Roeder holds to his promise and offers Bates a chance to step back into the limelight

January 30th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

City boss Glenn Roeder tonight proved as good as his word at St Mary's last night when he bolted another centre-half into his Colney thinking – only not the one everyone had long been expecting.

Lee Croft's former England Under-20 team-mate Matthew Bates this evening joined the Canaries on a three-month emergency loan deal and immediately explained why Roeder was so confident after yesterday's 1-0 win at Southampton that he would have at least one centre-half to unveil …

Keegan slams the stable door shut as the offers for Ameobi pile up. 'It would be madness…

January 30th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

Any last hope that Shola Ameobi might figure on Glenn Roeder's New Year shopping list appeared to have ended this evening as new Magpies boss Kevin Keegan told the Evening Chronicle that letting anyone out now would be “madness”.

The 26-year-old striker has long been on the Canary chief's 'most wanted' list. And but for Sam Allardyce's exit earlier this month, the out-of-favour 6ft 2in striker might already have been installed at Carrow Road on loan until …

Blues ease to the fore in race for Cahill. Which, in theory, leaves City a Tiny step nearer…

January 30th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

The pace of City's transfer activity continued to quicken today as it emerged that Birmingham City were now firmly in the driving seat to win the race for Gary Cahill's signature.

That, of course, could – and it remains merely a 'could' given the personalities concerned – ease the way for Martin Taylor's exit to Norfolk.

That all said, the fact that Blues' desperate 2-0 defeat at Sunderland plunged Alex McLeish's side into ever deeper trouble …
