City on the road to making a full recovery after summer surgery. But the proof will be in the pudding…

July 31st, 2008 by Tom Haylett | Comments Off

So, with just over a week until the Championship season gets under way (where does the summer go?), how are City shaping up in their quest to compete at the right end of the table?

I think everybody would agree that the squad is stronger, if not much bigger than this time last year.

You would like to think Arturo Lupoli will be more prolific than Chris Brown (not hard I know). And, fingers crossed, our Glenn's next striking acquisition will fare better than Peter …

Roeder left to play a waiting game as Harry looks to get 'OJ' signed, sealed and delivered

July 30th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

Glenn Roeder's hopes of adding a beautiful little mover to his 2008-2009 plans within “48 hours” were tonight looking slightly optimistic as Omar Koroma's reported loan switch to Norwich via first Gambia and then Portsmouth became mired in red tape.

Sources both on the South Coast and, indeed, closer to home in the shape of the Norwich Evening News pin-pointed the 18-year-old striker as the one that the City chief identified in the wake of Monday night's 5-1 defeat …

Fozzy sheds more light on the Celtic injury legend now in City's midst. Meet Mr Kennedy

July 30th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

City skipper Mark Fotheringham tonight lifted the lid on the latest arrival in Norwich's midst – strapping Celtic centre-half John Kennedy.

Like Arturo Lupoli,Kennedy missed last night's 5-1 defeat by a rampant Spurs side due to little more than paperwork as the Scottish FA failed to process the required international clearance forms in time for the 24-year-old to make his first appearance in front of the Carrow Road faithful.

For now, therefore, he remains …

Still more questions than answers after seeing how the other half live…

July 29th, 2008 by Stanley | Comments Off

Well, that was embarrassing. Stan, of course, will remain hopeful that the new season brings all that he and his fellow Canaries desire.

Even so, watching Spurs do to us what we did to Gorleston was hard to stomach. Make no mistake about it, that could have been 8-1 to the London (via Great Yarmouth) boys. We were murdered, pure and simple.

But does it tell us anything? It was, after all, a friendly game in which the stakes were not at all high to all but the odd …

Roeder has his eye on a 'beautiful mover' as Doherty is ruled out for three months

July 29th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

City boss Glenn Roeder tonight revealed that he had his beady eye on a 'beautiful mover' – a six-foot striker that he was hoping to unveil “within the next 48 hours”.

For if there was a glaring lesson from tonight's 5-1 dismissal by an all-too slick Spurs outfit, it was how light the Canaries remain in the striker department.

With Arturo Lupoli's international clearance still stuck within the corridors of the Italian FA, the City chief had little option but …

Four-goal Bent leads a second-half romp as City find no answer to that top flight style

July 28th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

A four-goal blast from ex-Town hero Darren Bent gave Premiership visitors Spurs a comfortable 5-1 victory over Glenn Roeder's Canaries this evening.

All square at 1-1 after Jamie Cureton's clinical finish wiped out Dejan Stefanovic's tenth minute own-goal, the Londoners stepped on the gas either side of the interval and in Bent found an all-too willing marksman – one determined to make the very most of Robbie Keane's exit to Liverpool and the continuing uncertainty …

Lupoli the big absentee as Spurs put all their big guns on tonight's friendly bill

July 28th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

City fans hoping for a first glimpse of on-loan Fiorentina striker Arturo Lupoli were left disappointed tonight as the 21-year-old Italian was notable only by his absence for this evening's friendly clash with Premiership Spurs.

With no immediate explanation as to where Lupoli might have been, the City faithful were left to settle for a first sighting of Dejan Stefanovic in a City shirt as the 33-year-old Serb settled himself into the heart of the Canary defence.

There …

City face the biggest test yet of their summer rebuilding as Spurs roll up the A11

July 28th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

Glenn Roeder's Canaries faces the stiffest test yet of their pre-season schedule this evening as Carrow Road plays host to Premiership Spurs.

In fact, with just Colchester United to come this Saturday before Norwich kick-off their 2008-2009 Championship campaign away at Coventry City in under a fortnight's time, today's sold-out clash will be City's stiffest test. End of; period.

If anyone is going to give them the full, summer runaround this will …

Come on down No 8? Kennedy said to be Carrow Road-bound in six-month loan deal

July 27th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

Celtic defender John Kennedy looks set to become Glenn Roeder's eighth summer addition to an ever-expanding squad after it was reported that he will join the Canaries on a six-month loan.

He had been expected to sign a short-term agreement with Motherwell after joining them for pre-season training but after 'Well admitted the terms of the loan were too steep, it was down to City and Preston to battle it out for his signature.

And according to widespread reports …

Super Matt expecting big things from his old club as Roeder and Co aim for 03/04 repeat

July 25th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

Former Canary fans' favourite Mathias Svensson has admitted it could be a 'promising season' for his ex-club after witnessing the way City put Falkenbergs FF to the sword on Tuesday night.

And after the convincing 3-0 success, Svensson is hoping for better times ahead after three miserable seasons since relegation – despite not being familiar with most of the current Canary squad.

The man City supporters called 'Super Matty Svensson' was in town …
