Lita deal still clearly very much in the balance with a defeaning silence from the Royals

December 31st, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

Tonight it was a case of either a deafening silence from the Madejski Stadium – or else silence proving golden as far as Glenn Roeder's hopes of securing Leroy Lita's services on a longer-term basis were concerned.

With his initial, 93-day loan period now up, the hope was that the Canaries could tie up a half-season loan deal with the Royals and bolt some much-needed firepower onto the front of the side between now and the end of the season – certainly that was the way …

Peter Cullum: Own goal missed or lucky escape? Discuss…

December 31st, 2008 by Rick Waghorn | Comments Off

It has to be said that I'm not in the rudest of healths right now.

The old winter vomit bug has descended on downtown Loddon and my usual generous, friend-to-all-men nature is not exactly overly to the fore.

I'm in a bit of a sh*tty mood, if truth be told.

So today's front page splash in the Eastern Daily Press that Peter Cullum was “under the cosh” and wouldn't be riding to Norwich's rescue this cash-strapped winter didn't exactly …

The words barrel, scrape and bottom spring to mind. Those and a few other choice words…

December 29th, 2008 by Stanley | Comments Off

Well, how low can you go?

For Stan, that was down there with the most inept performances of 'Hammy' Hamilton and old PG at his nadir.

Awful.

Of the 13 City players who played yesterday, only Patty, Crofty, Clingan and Doc can really wake up this morning and tell themselves that they gave their all.

Rusty, Lita and Marshall may not be too far behind. As for the rest of them – pitiful.

Poor old Stan doesn't …

Roeder now has to wheel and deal like never before with Lita top of his New Year wish list. Otherwise…

December 29th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

Under-fire City chief Glenn Roeder was clinging to the hope that both Leroy Lita and Reading would agree to a half-season long loan deal this week as Norwich's season lurched once more in the direction marked 'Crisis'.

Coupled to events elsewhere, yesterday's disastrous 3-2 home defeat by fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest left the Canaries just two points clear of the drop zone.

More alarmingly for a team that have lost seven of their last eight away …

Roeder faces growing fury from the fans as City slump back into the mire again

December 28th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

City boss Glenn Roeder found himself squarely in the firing line this evening after the Canaries slumped to a disastrous 3-2 home defeat by managerless Nottingham Forest.

Robert Earnshaw's killer third goal moments from time brought an instant chorus of 'Roeder out!' from the home faithful.

And while a second, Forest own goal seconds later took some of the sting out of the occasion and spared the Canary chief further indignities at the final whistle, there …

Davies lined up for the Forest gig as Roeder goes all coy on Lita's future

December 27th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

The Canaries could yet slam straight into that famous 'new manager bounce' as they prepare for another crucial home clash against Nottingham Forest tomorrow.

On the back of slumping to yet another away-day defeat – this time to Crystal Palace and an all-too predictable 3-1 reverse at Selhurst Park – City know that a good win against their fellow strugglers is imperative if they are to keep that four-point cushion intact.

However, last night's dismissal …

And, lo, the Angel Drinkell came amongst them with a fell warning for all that would listen…

December 26th, 2008 by Stanley | Comments Off

And so it came to pass that the Angel Drinkell appeared before Stanley and spake words of profound wisdom.

'Do not take the road to the City of the sparkling Palace, because it is owned by an evil King of Jordan, and he will rob you blind. His army is foul to spy and play football in a kick and rush stylee. They will slaughter the meek men of Norfolk and the journey home will be vile.'

'But Angel Drinkell' pleaded Stan, 'the one they call …

Roeder left to clutch at the usual 'If onlys…' as all eyes now turn to that key Forest clash

December 26th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

City teed themselves up for yet another huge home game this weekend by following an all-too familiar script at Selhurst Park this afternoon. Almost to the line.

For the 758 travelling Canary fans who ventured out into South Norwood on a Boxing Day lunchtime, Gary Doherty's 18th minute leveller offered a rare moment of joy; Leroy Lita should have added a second before the interval – only to somehow hit a post from six-yards out.

Otherwise, it was all too predictable – …

December 24th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

It might be Christmas; it might be the time of year when all we ever want to do is just slob out on the sofa with just the final round of cold turkey sandwiches for company… but that doesn't mean that the conversation stops.

#ncfc – our new, footie chat zone courtesy of the good people at Channel Four's 4iP – will be rolling on 24/7.

And even if Santa fails to show …

Bertrand stays put for the rest of the season as Kennedy returns north for good

December 24th, 2008 by Latest News | Comments Off

City boss Glenn Roeder this morning confirmed that Ryan Bertrand would, indeed, be a City player until the end of the season – as he bid a fond farewell to John Kennedy.

He was, said the City chief, already scouring the ranks of Premiership reserve teams for a Kennedy replacement.

At least – contrary to morning reports – he wasn't in need of a new left-back as his long-standing friendship with Chelsea's Frank Arnesen delivered Bertrand's signature until the …
