Ablett staying positive despite an air of doom and gloom ahead of City clash

Fri 30 Oct 09

Stockport boss Gary Ablett is refusing to press the panic button despite County's fall towards the dreaded drop zone ahead of tomorrow's clash with the Canaries.

The Hatters have only recorded one victory at Edgeley Park this season and their last home clash resulted in a 4-0 defeat to Millwall.

They are without a win in seven games and despite the fact that City are in the midst of an injury crisis, the visitors will be favourites to take the points home tomorrow afternoon.

With the Cheshire side currently sitting in 20th place in League One – only one slot above the bottom four – pundits are predicting a long season for County.

But the former Liverpool defender has insisted that time is on their side as they aim to get their season up and running against an in-form Norwich side tomorrow.

"I think there will be lots of chances for us to push up the league table," the Hatters boss told the local media.

"I wouldn't read too much into where we are at the moment. Let's see where we are after another 10 games."

Ablett will, however, be able to welcome back top scorer Carl Baker for the visit of the Canaries after the midfielder sat out last Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Brentford with a calf injury.

The County favourite is likely to take the place of Paul Turnbull in the home team's engine room.

But like his opposite number Paul Lambert, he has injury concerns and Gianluca Havern (shoulder) and Greg Tansey, who has suspected swine flu, are doubtful.
