City edge a step closer to Wembley after dramatic JPT shoot-out win at Swindon

Tues 10 Nov 09

The Canaries can almost reach out and touch the Wembley Arch after a penalty shoot-out win at Swindon saw them through to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern area semi-finals.

After a goalless 90 minutes, City held their nerve to net all five spot-kicks in a 5-3 victory - all achieved with a patched up side.

Only two players remained from Saturday's FA Cup thrashing of Paulton Rovers and the Lambert revolution continues with this latest success.

And with only Hereford, MK Dons and either Southampton or Charlton between City and a southern area final, Lambert was a happy man afterwards.

"The team that we put out was a team of kids and lads who have not been playing games so this was a massive performance," he told the club's website.

"The lads that came in tonight have been extraordinary, absolutely extraordinary and I'm very proud of them.

"In penalties anything can happen but we held our nerve and every one of them was brilliant."

For much more JPT reaction, be sure to check MFW tomorrow...
