Fair play to the new gaffer, he certainly likes to keep us all in guessing games.
He was at it again this morning as he sat Matty down beside him.
Quizzed as to whether the Press boys would be doing this all again next week as he bolted on another two or three more loan faces after Tiny Taylor's arrival and now that of Pattison, Glenn was having everyone running for their Rothman's come the end of this morning's session.
?I feel I've got one lined up already,? was the word on the street – that Pattison may just be the warm-up act for something bigger next Monday-Tuesday.
?I just need the manager to rubber-stamp it,? he added, having a little pop at those Premiership managers who use these international breaks to jet off somewhere in the sun. And not leave their mobiles on.
?I'm waiting on a phone call today that I'm hoping is his permission to sign another player.?
Again, he appeared to be out of the Pattison-mould – young, hungry and chomping at the bit. The boys that are slightly older appeared to be the ones that have already settled for a life of picking the kids up from school and ?taking the missus to Waitrose?.
?That'll be a young-ish player,? said Roeder, pencilling in a few details. ?Proved where he's come from – with a point to prove where he's come from because he's been bought for very good money.
?And he's quite been able to break through. And if I can get him, I'd like to think that he'll be able to come here and say: 'You bought me for good money; you haven't played me too much; I'll show you… you should have played me more…'
?And we'll get the benefit of that at Norwich. And that's the kind of player that I'm looking for.?
A bit later he returned to his familiar theme of looking at what Watford and West Brom have got that Norwich haven't squad-wise – pace, power and athleticism were the answers. And this particular lad fits that billing, too.
He's not one to settle for the trip to Waitrose, either.
?Fortunately, Matty's not like that. Nor is Martin Taylor. And nor will this lad be either,? said the gaffer.
?Hopefully, we'll get him by Monday – Tuesday at the latest. So that will be three.?
There we go. Get a-guessing. It could be a busy time next week.
