Is that No1 done and dusted? The first one through the door this window?
Er, no. Not according to what old Ferret hears.
The shout was that Antoine Sibierski's three-month loan spell has now been converted into a full-time free transfer; all of which would make the 34-year-old Frenchman numero uno for this January.
Not the case, I'm told. Nothing's happened there.
In fairness, there's no huge rush; he's here till the 18th anyway.
Far better, you suspect, for old Glenn to concentrate his thoughts at the back – particularly given the fact that both Omosuzi and Drury emerged from The Valley with big dead legs for their troubles.
Slam in the replay against the Addicks next Tuesday night and all of a sudden City have a busy run of games coming up; one slip now…
So that's where I'd be looking; whistling up another Jonathan Grounds' type character. Old Matthew Bates was looking to get out on loan again; to give that knee another run-out.
As for Sibi, he's on his way from the JJB. That, at least, was the word in the North-West as he popped back up in the Latics' midst for that recent period of rehab.
Free up his wages for a younger pair of legs was the suggestion – one that Brucie's short statement last month did nothing to deny.
“Sibi is back having treatment on his knee, but the loan doesn't finish until the middle of next month,” the Wigan boss said at the time, quizzed as to what next for the 6ft 3in striker-cum-midfielder.
“We'll see how things are then, see how things progress.”
Tonight and the line appears to be quite simple; as yet, that hasn't progressed anywhere.
