I think this is what old Ferret would describe as 'from the horse's mouth…'
That having heard it was pretty much a 'Non!' as far as those reports of a full-time switch to Norfolk for Antoine Sibierski was concerned, now you've got old Brucie saying as much himself.
For me, it looks as if the old Frenchman's days are numbered. Doesn't appear to be much enthusiasm on anyone's part to get a full-time deal done.
And with the Latics' squad not the biggest – and there's plenty of talk of Emile Heskey moving on – then the JJB chief appears happy enough to have Sibi back in the building.
As, it appears, will Mrs Sibi with the local newspaper claiming that the Frenchman is equally keen to stay close to the family's Manchester base.
Roeder all but muttered as much recently as he let Sibierski return to the JJB for his rehab on that injured knee.
“Sibi is due to come back on January 17 and I've no problem about that happening,” Bruce told local reporters in the North-West overnight, knocking those 'Sibi's signed!' reports firmly on the head.
Whatever the Manchester Evening News might claim, nothing's been done. Or even said, as far as Norwich are concerned.
“The loan has served its purpose as Sibi has got some games under his belt and would be available for our squad,” said Bruce.
“At the moment there hasn't been an approach from Norwich to take him for longer, so I assume he will come back to us.”
All of which will find Roeder firmly back in the striker market now that he's got his centre-half signing in the bag in the shape of Grounds.
Depending on how he thinks Cort's progress is coming along, you'd expect a little 'un to be next in the building. Someone who might cause our Arturo to raise an eyebrow, perhaps?
