Despite Paul Lambert’s recent transfer frustration, it seems there could be two new faces at Colney next week with the arrival of Ruairi Devlin and Paddy Mooney on trial.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, the Newry City pair are due in Norfolk in a week’s time as the Canary boss looks to inject some fresh blood into his promotion-chasing team.
19-year-old striker Devlin only made his Newry debut in this weekend’s IFA Premiership clash with Linfield.
But he has been making a name for himself in the club’s Under-18 and reserve sides and impressed after his step up on Saturday.
“We told Ruairi to go and play and don’t worry about making mistakes. Leave that to us, we put him on the pitch so we didn’t want him to worry about anything,” said manager John McDonnell, who decided to give the forward his debut on the right-wing.
“We wanted him to go and do his best and if he made mistakes not to worry about it. By playing at this level he will learn the game a lot more quickly.
“He fitted into the team well. He knew his job and knew what he had to do and that was important,” added the City chief.
As for Mooney, I’d love to be able to give you some more information but that one is definitely a case of ‘watch this space’.
