As the new season approaches I am fully confident that Alex Neil has plans in place to get the best out of his squad as they prepare to compete against the best teams in English football.
With the addition of Robbie Brady I’m very happy with the balance across midfield because even though Brady can operate at both full back and in midfield I see the Irishman as a wide midfielder. Despite Youssouf Mulumbu’s unfortunate injury our depth in midfield is very good with the likes of Nathan Redmond set, in my view, to take the league by storm.
My main concerns are to do with our defenders. City conceded 48 goals in the Championship last season and I expect that figure to be far greater this coming season. It’s been an ongoing debate amongst City fans for a while now but I can’t agree with Alex Neil in his view that Russell Martin is a better central defender than a full-back.
Despite the arrival of Andre Wisdom from Liverpool I would still like a commanding central defender to come in and improve the back line even more. Virgil van Dijk would be my main target but with links to Everton and Southampton and an £8million price tag that one now looks like a long shot.
If I had to make a prediction I would wager that City will finish 15th or 16th this season.
And finally… with the new season comes a new fans social club for Norwich City fans. Set up by a team of enthusiastic volunteers, the supporters club has the main aim of working with, and under the guidance of Norwich City Football Club to build a social club for the fans which will harbour enjoyable activities, bringing both club and its fans closer together whilst supporting community projects including the community sports foundation.
The first event will be on the 19th August and is a Fans Forum, which is taking place at Carrow Road and will have three first team players in attendance.

Totally agree Samir. In games such as Charlton away our defensive frailties were highlighted last season and I reluctantly have to admit that Seb and Russ will struggle against top flight strike forces. Given he has got everything else right since his arrival I’m confident that Sir Alex will address this before the transfer window closes (and hope our Achilles heel is not exposed in the meantime) OTBC
Brief, to the point. Nailed it!
