This week, in order to get an inside track on all things Derby County we have been chatting to the good folk of DCFCFanTV:
Hi guys, so what’s it like being a Derby County fan? Why do you always seem to be up there looking good for promotion and then fade away or never quite make it? And will it finally be your year?
Being a Derby County fan is hard! Like you say, we’re constantly bottling our chance of promotion. I think we’ll always be reminded of Mr Zamora popping up at Wembley. This year is hard to call; we are looking solid and are grinding out results. Can’t see us getting top two, or even comfortably getting play-offs. We could sneak in sixth late on and gain a place but our fans aren’t expecting miracles this season
I have to ask… what are your memories of the 3-2 at Carrow Rd in 2011? For many of us Canaries, it’s possibly one of our favourite, certainly most memorable games in the past decade! Robbie Savage man!
To be honest, I don’t remember that game too well. I wasn’t there myself and don’t really remember the details. All I can say is that Robbie Savage was hilarious to watch week in week out.
How did your DCFCFanTV come about? And have you seen Talk Norwich City masterminded by Jack Reeve? It’s pretty slick and they even got our club captain Russ Martin on for a chat. Do you think it’s important to have these digital offerings to engage not only the younger fans but to provide an alternative to boring old school match reports?
DCFCFANTV came about because we didn’t have a channel that enables fans to speak about the games and things going on at the club. So I created this. We had to get approval from the club directly and come next season should have some more content coming.
Who would win in a fist fight, Gary Rowett or Daniel Farke?
I think Farke would win. Rowett doesn’t strike me as a guy to get angry. He’s very much like a Sean Dyche figure, footballing terms and personally as well. He likes to stay calm and deal with situations differently. So I’d have to go for Farke.
Is Jason Shackell still a thing? Does Bradley Johnson still do the business? And why do Derby like ex-Norwich players so much?
Yes Jason Shackell is still around, however he picked up an injury around April last year and hasn’t played for us since. He was linked with a move to your rivals Ipswich on deadline day but nothing ever happened in the end. Bradley Johnson has had a really good start to the season in my opinion and has chipped in with his fair share of goals. However a suspension saw him lose his midfield position to Joe Ledley and as yet he hasn’t been able to dislodge him.
How did your love affair with all things Rams start? Did you start watching Derby at the Baseball Ground or at Pride Park?
My love affair started in 2005 I believe. So I started watching at Pride Park’ unfortunately not old enough to remember the Baseball Ground.
How confident are you going into the game against Norwich and where do you see both of us ending up in the table?
Personally I’m not that confident going into the game tomorrow. Weve had a tendency to do poorly at your place in recent times; my best memory being Jamie Hanson’s cross-come-shot from the corner flag which John Ruddy flapped at.
Come the end of the season I expect both clubs to be top ten. Not sure on where we will finish but I’m confident you guys will be top six at least; maybe not the quality to get top two but you should be challenging at the right end.
Cheers… and the best of luck for the season (after tomorrow ☺).
