Nice one, Cat P-H – and nice to see a variety of format on MFW too. Do we have a Canary Poet Laureate yet? Reckon we should do. If so, we have candidate No. 1 right here!
Best wishes all.
I’ve written a few song lyrics in my time but never, to my knowledge, an actual poem. That specific medium frightens me to be honest but thanks to your inspiration I’ll give it a little go.
Past and present meld together. I guess they always will.
From the sunshine of August to the deep Winter chill.
We’re there in the sunshine and also the rain.
Enjoying the glory and suffering the pain.
It is an obsession we all certainly share.
And strangely feel guilty if we are not there.
We think of the heroes – the blasts from the past.
Sometimes this timeline progresses so fast.
The future’s unwritten as Joe Strummer said.
Us great supporters – we’re so easily led.
I actively invite flak from all quarters – this obviously took me less than five minutes but it’s the best I can do right now. If there ever were a Canary poet laureate and Cat didn’t get the honour my money would be on Stew or Andy.
A great diversion.
Anyone got Andrew Motion’s email address 🙂
It makes me think of fantastic Carrow Road atmospheres.
Like City vPalace 1973, or the night the fog came down, leading Chelsea 3-2 on our way to the League Cup Final.
The Manchester United League Cup semi Final, the Ipswich one courtesy of Steve Bruce.
At home to Villa and a 1-0 win made me believe we could win The Premier League.
And Wembley v Boro the loudest I have ever heard from the yella army.
Hopefully those days will soon be back. Great memories.

I enjoyed that too Cat.
