Upon the closure of the transfer windows, every pundit, media outlet and shock-jock talk-radio station took it upon themselves to try and establish who ‘won’ the transfer window.
As ever, despite City spending more than they have ever done in any transfer window in history and having ticked every box going (at least in Norwich City terms), a nameless radio station deemed our window only the 16th most successful in the division.
Of course, time will be the only judge as to whether this summer has been a success or not and whether Stuart Webber is the recruitment genius we all believe him to be right now, but the cold hard facts tell us that we have indeed ‘given it a go’ ™.
One of MFW’s very own, Chris Sadler, illustrated perfectly the sums spent and received by City in said window in the form of three graphs. With his kind permission, they are shown below…

So, while we will never be among the big spenders, for the only club in the division that’s self-funded to be well and truly in the pack of the ‘best of the rest’ is, in its own way, a remarkable achievement.
But, as Fulham prove on a biannual basis, it’s not just about how much you spend, but how wisely you spend it.
All will be revealed on Sunday, 22 May 2022. Until then…
