When writing about the non-event that was the release of the EFL Championship fixtures for 2023-24, Gary remarked that there were only 44 days to go until what we normally refer to as The Big Kick-Off gets underway on Saturday, August 5.
Well, technically there were 43 days if you count the fact that television has done its usual thing by snatching a Friday night slot the night before to showcase the by-now compulsory promoted v relegated game when Southampton visit the Owls of Hillsborough.
Straight away there is interest for the neutral fan and in this case it is compounded by the fact that the game marks Russell Martin’s debut as Saints manager and, as I write, Sheffield Wednesday have yet to replace Darren Moore – although I am sure Wednesday will not remain managerless for very much longer.
What adds intrigue to the fixture as well of course is that whatever happened between the affable “Big Dave” and Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has yet to come out in the wash. Mutual consent my butt.
So as I write there are now 41 days to go until the resumption of hostilities, not forgetting that adversaries next season will include Ipswich Town for the first time in many a moon.
Gary more than adequately hit the nail on the head yesterday when he summed up most supporters’ hopes [none] and fears [plenty] regarding next season’s encounters with those fine fellas down the road, so I’ll move on to some other news [I use the word loosely] if I may.
There is still nothing concrete on the arrival of Spanish winger/midfielder Borga Sainz from Turkish Super Lig side Giresunspor, but over the weekend the Pink Un‘s Paddy Davitt said there is nothing nasty lurking in the background and any necessary paperwork shouldn’t hold the deal up for very much longer. Thanks for that Paddy – as you too will know, we City fans are used to being reminded that patience is a virtue.
Forget Bermuda – we move on to the West London Triangle for this Monday’s trio of prefabricated rumours, The first two of these arrive courtesy of Football League World, who came up with a brace to be filed under N for Never in a Month of Sundays. The third is via EFL Index, whose claim at least has an air of reality about it.
- Andrew Omobamidele is a target for, would you believe, Crystal Palace. The claim is that they need to replace the possibly Tottenham-bound Marc Guehi so could be prepared to match the £20 million Stuart Webber wants for Big Andy.
- Brentford are after the completely untried [three appearances as a sub] Abu Kamara and are expressing “concrete” interest in a player described as “a star in the making”- we’re not told who by. This story was in turn “borrowed” from Football Insider.
- EFL Index suggests that Fulham are chasing Max Aarons. The site’s Ahmed Khan says Marco Silva needs cover for Kenny Tete next season and Max could be the man to provide it.
After ingesting these gems of make-it-up-as-you-go-along I thought I’d take a break from riding the rumour machine the other day by driving down to Morrisons to buy some fresh fish for tea but it would seem that every time I do this I am drawn to the nearby Nike Factory Outlet, which has played havoc with my bank balance ever since they opened the store about five or six years ago.
I’ve wanted a pair of Air Max APs for a while now and the cheapest I’d ever seen them before, online or anywhere else, was £84. I once vacillated for so long that on taking the plunge I could only get a size five or twelve. Ho hum. I looked to the cerulean skies above Carrow Road for approval and entered the shop.

Five minutes later I emerged with a nice marillion box and a debit card slip for £27.95. In an inexplicably unpromoted deal, they had taken 66% off, the Football Gods had smiled on me and I was such a happy bunny you could have called me Benjamin and I wouldn’t have cared.
Okay Grealish, you’re the flash ‘Arry with the new mega-apparel deal but guess what?
I don’t care that you’re considerably richer than me. Nobody can ever order me to wear second-rate threads like Puma so yah, boo sucks.
I enjoyed Mr Skate very much that Friday evening and returned to the rumour mill in the best of spirits on Saturday.
This kicked off with reading what Adam Idah said about scoring his first goal for Ireland on Monday, an extra-time header to seal a 3-0 win for the Republic over lowly Euros group stage rivals Gibraltar.
Idah told Balls-ie‘s Gary Connaughton how he was delighted to have been able to partially repay RoI manager Stephen Kenny for his trust and his patience with a goal in this match, which was his sixteenth attempt to score in the Green shirt of his home country.
“My job is to score goals and that’s probably the toughest part about it, not scoring. I’ve scored tonight and now I’ll try to keep scoring,” he said.
Connaughton’s last line brought a chuckle from me when he said: “Having scored his first goal for Ireland he should start the [new] season with a pep in his step!”
On behalf of all at Carrow Road, Gary: we all bloody well hope so too!
This next news item could possibly make an MFW article all by itself. No promises, but I might just keep my word. In the interim, here’s what I’m rattling on about:
CHEERS! New pub at Carra Rud! – Norwich City (canaries.co.uk)
Another straight rob from NCFC Official not only showed the Club in a very good light but confirmed the dedication of young Finley Welch.
It makes for good reading, especially right now when so many young players are tarred with the “airhead” brush when the truth can sometimes be so very, very different.
Finley has been awarded the Premier League Scholar of the Year award for his grades and commitment as a scholar.
This recognises an academy player from the Under-18 age group, who has excelled in all aspects of the scholarship programme and is a role model to other players. Finley got the equivalent of three A*s at A level and he has been given a full grant by the PFA for business school to do a degree.
Academy tutor and core programme coordinator Jennifer Joyce said: “We are so proud of Fin. He has managed being captain of the Under-18s and stepped up to play alongside the Under-21s squad, all while maintaining an unbelievable work ethic.”
Well done Finley – and well done to the NCFC Academy for supporting a walk of life that many young ballers swerve from day one.
I had a nailed-on contender for my close season Quote of the Week award [it’s just like the Guardian Cricket Live team does at the end of each day’s play and when I say just like, it’s because there’s no prize going here either]
A couple of crackers over the weekend forced my early pick back into a three-way tie as follows:
“I hope Delia’s had more luck with finding a painter, electrician and a chef than a Sports Director” – Alex B on recruitment;
“Marty, sad but true. I‘m finding it hard to get enthusiastic about next season. I feel like an old boxer who’s been on the canvas too often to look forward to the next fight” – Herr Cutz on life as a City fan;
“I suspect, however, we’re the only club – possibly in the whole division – where the sense of apathy is borne of the club not even pretending to like or value its supporters” – our illustrious Editor says it as so many of us [very much including myself] see it.
MFW reader Don Harold recently kindly sent me a Sunday Times feature about Black Sabbath bassist and lyricist Geezer Butler and his considerable love for the Villa – cheers Don.
The very last line was a plug for Geezer’s autobiography which Sabbath fans have been patiently awaiting for over 25 years now. One Amazon transaction later and I was predictably engrossed – there’s a picture of me with the book and our dog, who I named Geezer after said employer of basso profundo, floating around this article somewhere!

Geezer naturally devoted a chapter to his beloved Villa which I jumped ahead and read in isolation. In it, he says:
“If you were from Aston back then you supported Villa. No ifs or buts. You certainly didn’t support Birmingham City, who were the dreaded ‘scum’ from the wrong side of town.
“Villa were like a second religion to me, after Catholicism. Nowadays, they are my only religion.”
Strikes a few chords [ha!] doesn’t it!
He knows his stuff, does Geezer. There’s none of the bandwagon jumper about this guy – his potted history of Villa in his own Brummie vernacular is knife-sharp and yes, he really did write the book all by himself.
Even more so after reading his book, Geezer goes down as a top man with me.
To the point that he’s one of my very limited number of:
Well done to Idah, people have complained about him missing chances and not scoring enough. Then when he scores it’s down to the quality of the opposition. The ball travels in the same direction no matter who you are playing.
After last season I couldn’t listen to another Villa supporting Brummie. Yow ent sin me, Roight!!
Hi Gil
I used to work in Ireland now and again and had friends in Cork City who reckoned we’d signed a belter when we got hold of the young teenager that was then Idah.
i spoke with Sean just before Christmas and he was sorry to see that he seems to have fallen at the final hurdle in his pursuit of stardom as he put it.
But the lad must have something about him as he’s recovered from a couple of bad injuries and hopefully this season he might show a bit more than in previous years.
Geezer Butler probably feels the same as you – real fans do about the plastic Johnny-come-latelies 🙂
Cheers
Morning Benjamin,
They don’t call it the silly season for nothing.
Add my congrats to Finley Welch , the epitome of homegrown , and one to keep an eye on.
Morning Mrs Tiggywinkle!
No, they certainly don’t call it the silly season for nothing, what with some of the daft transfer rumours and the dog finishing his namesake’s book before I did 🙂
The Club have quite a few *heartwarmers* like the tale of young Finley and it’s just plain remiss of them that they don’t get them out there in the media more often.
Give my regards to Beatrix.
Hi Martin
Like the new trainers and a good read.
No news is good news so the saying goes but no news causes unwanted speculation.
Yesterday I drifted from site to site looking for any name linked to City as a Sports Director and not a Scooby and forget the Doo.
Local and national media usually have some unfounded rumours but the only mention of any SD is not if Webber is going to the Loiners but when, and its more than likely Farke will be their coach.
My wit about the painter, electrician and the chef really is a serious concern – the first two are for safety and maintenance the chef, like the new bar, just builds up the Delia franchises in the club and keep her name in lights.
A waste of space or money.
It seems that the most important issues is locked away at Château Stowmarket or maybe in Milwaukee, who knows, but the lack of rumours of a SD doesn’t look good, especially with no CEO/Chair to run the club.
Mrs Webber is supposed to be staying in position – I just wonder for how long.
It’s been over a 100years since Marconi sent his first trans-Atlantic message then came the undersea cables – now we have Skype, Internet and other forms of communication, yet nothing from our American investors.
Has her Yorkshire Puds failed to rise or has she over beaten her sponge mix what looked like a recipe for growth now looks more like a failed hollandaise sauce? Just like 28 years of wasted chances to turn City into a beacon of light of how a club should be run.
Shoestring or broken G-string – who knows, maybe no string at all to run the club on. An owner that doesn’t invest to improve a business is a poor owner.
Hi Alex
The Farke to Leeds rumours are gathering pace this morning.
As for any announcement regarding a new SD there isn’t any and there’s unlikely to be until one is appointed if the Board continue with their current m.o.
To me, any moment whereby Daniel joins Leeds has to become a watershed for both Stuart and Zoe Webber.
The possible link would then be so *in yer face* that even Delia would have to see that they should not remain here afterwards as the conflict of interest issue would escalate overnight from pale green watching brief to bright red *danger imminent*.
I doubt she even sees that there is a potential problem that might become a live one very soon.
Somebody explained on MFW during the January window why my plea for Ed Balls to come back as Chairman would be a forlorn hope. I can’t remember exactly what was said but it boiled down to the fact that Ed is simply too busy.
While that is all too believable, it is equally a shame. I’d love to see him back as he has a range of experience that money just cannot buy.
And it seems that Delia listened to what he had to say and you can’t underestimate the importance of that particular quality 🙂
Cheers
We simply must give Adam Idah a run in his preferred position to see if he has what it takes. Pukki got in the way of that. Sargent simply does not cut it for me and the aging newcomer will probably get in the way too.
Idah probably should have moved on to get a better career move. Mismanagement has been the biggest problem for City over the past few years.
Even the good news about Webber has a one year delay.
New owners please.
Hi Cyprus
Good to see a bit more love for Idah on here.
While I think his ship has very probably sailed nobody would like to see him prosper more than me, although I might have a funny way of showing it at times 🙂
Having said that, I can definitely see a role for Ashley Barnes. You know, the type of character who will get right up a defender’s snout. A bit like Flecky once did but without his pace, if you like.
Right across the board [not just the Board], mismangement is the word.
Cheers
If Idah is to be our main goalscoring hope next season, in the phrase regularly addressed by Private Frazer to Captain Mainwaring: “We are doomed —– doomed!”
Congratulations ALAN
<<You are the 100th reader to reference Dad’s Army on MFW this season<<<-<
To be in with a chance of winning our…
In all seriousness though so many MFW readers have been using the comparison it's ridiculous – and we can't all be wrong!
Cheers 🙂
Hi Marty – smart trainers, ready for the disco now ! Idah hype beginning to get a bit like Gilmore. Much promise but no end product – now 22 should be doing more for his age. Have you heard much about Gilmore lately? must be Brighton’s fault, hey !
Hi Kev
I don’t do discos mate – few metalheads do 🙂
Injuries set Idah back a lot, and I mean a lot, but this season really does represent his last chance to make it with us. RoI manager Kenny rates him very highly if that’s anything at all to go by.
Who’s this Gilmour fella you’re on about?
Cheers
Our famous Chelsea loanee Billy gilmour @
I somehow didn’t think you meant Dave Gilmour from the Floyd!
I bet Todd C had a good old laugh when he read about the stalking incident with Gilmour being harrassed by *Devil Baby* or whatever the silly little creature calls herself 🙂
You got a bargain there Martin.
The dearth of news lately on all fronts is in stark contrast to the flurry of free transfers that heralded the onset of close season.
Clearly the Webber situation is a Mexican stand off. Webber won’t walk out and lose his pay off. The club don’t want to dispense with him with Leeds hovering and compensation the order of the day and Leeds don’t want to pay up his contract because every penny counts tha knows.
Placing him on gardening leave would simply allow him to start work in cognito for Leeds in a consultative capacity at our expense. The latitude afforded him by our hapless and out-of-touch owners has potentially holed us under the waterline before a ball is kicked.
The free transfer signings look to possess the kind of backbone lacking in the squad last season. Although unlikely to make us a contender we should hopefully be harder to beat than last season, where any chappy outfit could reasonably expect a result when facing us and frequently achieved one.
The clueless and unmotivated Smith has been replaced by Wagner who although he possesses infinitely more enthusiasm than his predecessor has made a similar impact. I’d give him the first 5 games and if he maintains his direction of travel the ground will once again be half empty by the 75th minute. No xg, no encouraging draws, just bloody win some games.
Sainz and the Scottish lad, along with numerous Brazilians, Chileans et al appear to have gone quiet. An actual cash signing appears beyond our reach.
Our American buddy still sits idly by, months after the availability of a game changing amount of shares were made available. Apparently there is some glitch in the paperwork or some such, despite the rest of football changing hands at a relentless pace our proposed “takeover” appears harder to achieve than similar at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Many now appear sceptical regarding the motives for this. Is he waiting until the club slides down the bog before picking up a bargain for a song?
The shambolic situation with Webber, the parlous financial outlook, the imminent sale of leading playing assets, the major discontent among the majority of the support all point to a club in distress. Poorly led.
Quite why Smith and Jones are hanging on like shite to a blanket while all the time condoning Webber’s attitude and performance is a mystery. They claim to be “devastated” by Webber’s departure.
Its a pity they can’t find the minerals to be “devastated” by 2 whole years of utter crap and failure on the pitch, the continued sniping and disrespect aimed at the paying public, the depreciation of their assets, the childish stance towards the local press, the continued low-rate ongst supporters.
Perhaps they might like to throw a few quid into the pot themselves if they can find one to piss in.
Hi Chris
Well said.
As I said to Alex [above], with the Farke to Leeds move seeming all the more likely by the minute, surely Webber has to be shown the door the moment it’s made official?
We cannot sanction that type of cuckoo in the nest and that’s for sure.
I remember saying here a couple of articles ago that Zoe Webber should be left to do her own thing but I have really changed my mind on that one. *Pillow talk* is an all-enveloping phrase but in this case it could prove deadly to us unless we are careful.
What a husband and wife talk about behind closed doors is nobody’s business but their own – normally. In this case the risk has to be eliminated at source by giving them nothing to discuss and the only way to do this is to remove both of them from the Club as quickly as possible.
As you say – and as they say themselves – the Smith claim to be devastated by Stuart Webber’s departure.
She and our beloved football club will end up being more than devasted if he and his wife remain on the premises for a single day after Daniel Farke signs for Leeds, IF he signs, of course, but that likes to be on the cards sometime sooner rather than later.
It can be extremely difficult to remove $hit from a blanket.
And we’ve got dogs, so trust me – I know what I’m talking about 🙂
Cheers
Hi Martin, I tend to agree. Zoe Ward-Webber’s position does look untenable given the situation. At any other club I suspect she would be relieved of her post, if indeed the bizarre set-up had been allowed to materialise in the first place. However, in La La Land anything goes.
At first I thought Zoe Webber deserved to be considered sparately from Stuart Webber as an individual employee but then reality hit home.
*Industrial espionage*, as it was known back in the day, could kill a business and occasionally did.
I only experienced one instance of this situation in my working life and the Company’s answer was to head off any possible trouble at the pass. On this occasion the affected employee was amicably dealt with via a severance payment with a couple of unknown legal clauses attached to it and nothing more was ever heard.
In this case he was a couple of levels lower than her on the management scale but worked in HR of all places!
Hello all,
As a glass half-empty sort of fellow, I usually “enjoy” the closed season, closely followed by the international breaks more than the week-to-week rollercoaster, which seems to bring more loss than highs. This article plus the comments helped take away the enjoyment of no football.
Perhaps Ian Drury’s “Reasons to be cheerful” may have been an ironic choice!
PS. I was one of those at PNE who saw Idah’s hat trick and believed we saw the future. The gods of football were having a jest.
Enjoy the next 5/6 weeks while we can.
11am Wednesday Lords cricket ground . Bazball v the Aussies take2.
Oh yes. Round two of what has already developed into the tastiest of series!
Hi Gerry
Welcome to MFW – we’re sorry to spoil your holiday from footy 🙂
I actually used your suggested Ian Dury track on the first article I wrote after Dean Smith belatedly got his marching orders.
The Football Gods do indeed like a laugh – especially after overdoing it on the nectar!
Cheers
My tip is that you should keep Geezer away from Geezer in case Geezer eats Geezer and Geezer needs to be replaced. I hope that helps.
Hi Don
You started it – you’re the one who told me he’d released the book at last!
I can’t recall if you’ve met our Geezer or not but if you haven’t I can assure you he’s pretty people-friendly… providing you don’t taste like rat or squirrel, of course.
As for the human Geezer, he’s a lifelong vegan so I think we’re safe on all counts 🙂
Cheers
Ha!
Just realised you were suggesting that Geezer the dog might eat the book rather than the author – see other comment. It’s been a long old day, believe me!
All is safe there also – as soon as he stopped teething he lost all interest in chewing anything he couldn’t actually eat.
Minnie the Russell is exactly the same in that way.
Well Martin, as we all expected Mr V Reyes has joined the ever growing ranks of keepers on the books – Krul, Gunn, Bardon, Mair and McCracken and that’s without the youth and u21 which he will be joining.
Fenerbahce are supposed to have asked for City’s valuation on Rashica – now this will an interesting development and something we spoke about a couple of weeks ago.
Galatasaray are looking to extend his loan and buy at a lower price next summer due to financial difficulties, Fenerbahce on the other hand haven’t those restrictions so a deal could be done at the right price.
Now knowing Rashica I just wonder if he has the cajones to jump from Galatasaray to Fenerbahce, personally I wouldn’t contemplate it Gunga Din.
Yeah, we’ll be able to field a team of keepers at this rate.
Rashica is close enough to Turkish culture to understand exactly what playing for both of those sides might be like – far more than we ever could, I guess.
I can’t see Webber tripping up on this kind of thing so in this instance I have faith that he’ll do what’s best for us.
Adam Idah – wonder if he’s going to be another Carlton Morris, or even Grant Holt i.e. someone who takes a long while to really make their mark. We lost with Morris but won with Holty.
The Webbers – she joined us whilst he was working at Huddersfield if I remember rightly. There was no problem then and there shouldn’t be now. Last week the stick to beat them with was they have “too much influence working together” which some claimed would never happen in any other business (a load of botox, it happens all over the place). Now the stick seems to be they can’t work apart because of “conflict of interest”.
It reminds me of one horrible night at Rochdale in the Grant era when one mouthy feller started up “Pass the **** ball, pass the **** ball” until he got fed up with that and went for “Keep the ***** ball, keep the ***** ball” whereupon his neighbour suggested he made his mind up as to which he preferred.
Hi Keith
Funny old world – I’ve just very recently changed my mind over Zoe Webber, basically because of how things might align.
If, and it’s still if, Daniel Farke gets the Leeds gig we could end up with a situation whereby both a former Head Coach and the current SD could end up together at an extremely close rival with Zoe coninuing to work for us at the very highest level.
You’re quite right, there shouldn’t be a problem now and I am sure the Webbers have the utmost integrity [I genuinely do believe that to be the case, actually] but accidents can happen and if I had the opportunity to avoid an accident I would take it.
As for Idah, as often as he is decried many City supporters want to see him become a Holty rather than, say, a Ryan Jarvis or Lee Power. But the injuries really haven’t helped him and at 22 this season is make or break for him as far as City are concerned.
At this stage in his career Carlton was only just beginning his cycle of loans and if ever a man deserves what he has earned for himself it is him.
Cheers
If anyone is feeling uncomfortably chilled and relaxed this morning, I’d thoroughly recommend drinking in some of the answers (mainly from Zoe Webber) on the Pink Un thread from last night’s Q&A at The Forum.
https://www.pinkun.com/news/23615558.norwich-city-wagner-webber-barnes-hernandez-fan-forum/
Maybe it’s just me being typically grumpy, but some of the replies regarding Attanasio, investment and the search for Stuart W’s replacement are, eerrmm, (chooses word carefully)… underwhelming.
But, on the flip side, some nice stuff from Ashey Barnes.
A couple of thoughts on the above that I posted on Twitter:
1) Zoe Webber on SW replacement: “In the next few days we are looking to appoint an outside recruitment specialist. We don’t want to rush that process.”
Why only now? He tended his resignation over three months ago, did he not?
2) ZW: “Delia, Michael and Mark are all very committed to trying to make the club as sustainable as possible. They won’t take any risks, in terms of investment”.
*Sigh*
Or, to put it another way… FFS.
Morning mate
Ms Webber’s performance certainly ruffled some Canary feathers in my footy social circle last night and that’s for sure.
Safe to say there was dupication aplenty between your thoughts and ours.
We’re off to hell in a handcart mate, that’s where we’re going.
Cheers
Got it , they’re going to cover the stand roofs in solar panels . Sustainability in action .
Wouldn’t they be better off installing them at Colney to reboot the SoccerBot 360?
The poor, lonesome little thing’s been gathering dust for a long time now.
We know Dean Smith didn’t use it but maybe under David Wagner it could be rewired to speak alongside him at post-match press conferences to save the players the embarrassment?
Yeah, I forgot about Barnes.
He did really well and it was good to hear him say he is planning to hang around to see out his career cos he didn’t say it in the way that so often means *I’m not trying too hard any more – it’s my final gig*.
What did it for me and made me want to question the universe was this from Zoe Webber:
Mark [Attanasio] has said that when he first came in he does not have a lot of knowledge of this industry and he IS KEEN TO LEARN FROM DELIA AND MICHAEL THE NUANCES OF MODERN FOOTBALL.
Ok everybody, let’s pack up and go home.
Our race is run.
Yep… if I didn’t know better, I’d assume that Mrs Webber chucked that one in for LOLs.
We really are stuffed aren’t we.
I thought it was Onel’s job to provide the LOLs.
I thought wrong.
The whole think stinks of pre-arranged or monitored questions – none to embarrass the panel or to give too much away.
The Loiners have placed Hammond in charge of recruitment ’til the 1st October and have said they expect to have a permanent SD in place shortly after to prepare for the January Window.
Is, or has, the haggling started for compo and anagreement in place for that date when Webber will announce he’s departed stage left?
Leeds will have enough to sort out the compo mate – they’ll be paying Daniel a signing on fee, not compo to Gladbach, so there’ll be plenty of spare change hanging around to get Webber on board.
49ers group seem to have a plan unlike our lot, and they make Attanasio’s look like cheapskates
Forgetting the USA for a minute, how did it come to pass that nothing came of interest from Doug King, a City fan who invested in Coventry instead.
His company, Yelo, seem to do everything right in championing UK farming and working positively to preserve the environment so would have seemed ideal on paper.
There is nothing to suggest there was ever even a meeting between him and our powers that be.
After what emerged from last night, it seems there is nothing worth being patient for except yet more same old 🙂
Good research, Martin.
A Lowestoft lad is young Mr King.
If he did enquire, I’d love to know why he was rejected.
I looked up Yelo because BASF used to work with similar companies in their agricultural business and I’ve kind of been interested ever since!
🤣🤣🤣 I thought the same thing. The last thing we need is a clone of those 2.
On his takeover of Coventry, I did read he admitted to twice trying to get his foot in the door – once just as an investment and the second time to purchase a large block of shares, but said he never heard back from the club.
I think he said he didn’t meet the club’s criteria, whatever that means, and it was about the time Delia announced the club wasn’t for sale, and that no investors wanted to invest in the club.
Maybe she doesn’t like supporters trying to buy her out.
By criteria he means dna
🙂
Chris.
I’m not a business person just an ex RAF, Oil, Gas and Construction Materials Controller that had a little to do with finances once a year on spending budgets.
DNA apart any well run business should explore by any and all means an enquiry to invest in it or a purchase of shares using an independent outside source.
The financial director alluded to previous enquiries that passed the in-house check were then passed to Delia and Michael as majority share holder to make a final decision.
It all seems all Mickey Mouse finances to me, but was any so called offers whether it’s investment or buying shares every put to other board members, but then they would out-vote everyone – so really the club’s run by a dictatorship
I controlled the same budget every year for 20 years, but it was so specialised [largely print services] that I was very rarely challenged on anything,
I’m not too proud to admit that I had to go on a three-day Company course to show me the ropes of the software I had to use and be taught some unbreakable company rules concerning finance in general.
As I remember it was held in English in the Rhineland Palatinate. The *tutor* was Greek, I was English, two of the lads were American and there were three Germans too, as you might expect!
I thoroughly enjoyed myself, actually.
I wholeheartedly concur.
That *we haven’t had any offers, nobody wants to invest in the Club* line lived long enough to wear a bit thin, didn’t it?
It was a downright untruth
